Bottled Brains For Sale

If bottled brains would be available in the near future, I would be buying these three immediately just to learn what makes them tick. Well, so far they are my favorites - when they showed the country how exquisite and eccentric their minds work during the Chief Justice Renato Corona Impeachment Trial.

Bottled brains anyone? How much are you going to pay to get your hands on them?
We saw in the televised Impeachment Trial proceedings how adeptly lawyers go into semantic contortions, how they buttress their arguments with the finest frills of the law, interpreting these laws in so many obtuse ways that befuddle those of us untrained in legalese!

The Day Corona Testes-Tified

The "incident" at the Senate Impeachment court where the Chief Justice Renato Corona surprised everyone by his declaration of a waiver allowing most government agencies to access his bank accounts... only to give a pathetic condition later on that all 188 congressmen, who signed his Impeachment complaint, plus a special mentioned Senator Franklin Drilon, would also sign similar waivers, then CJ hurriedly walks out of the courtroom before he could be cross-examined...... was like similar to having sex with your wife at a point where both of you are almost reaching climax, at the peak of intimacy......then all of a sudden your child walks into your room and sees the two of you while in coitous.

When the CJ returned to the courtroom (he probably couldn't leave because the Senate President and presiding impeachment court senator judge Juan Ponce Enrile ordered all Senate doors and gates locked), he was in a wheelchair....like a limp penis several minutes after pleasing himself.

I believe he's far more relieved, while most of us at the courtroom had been abruptly stopped from ejaculating!

Scarborough Affair

The Scarborough Islands dispute began when China blocked a Filipino warship from arresting Chinese fishermen in the area, a group of islands and reefs about 140 miles from the Philippines shoreline. Manila requested to take the issue to international court last week. Beijing refused, maintaining that the area is an indisputable part of Chinese territory.

Scarborough Shoal is a classic case of a territorial sovereignty dispute. The Philippines asserts that it has exercised effective occupation and effective jurisdiction over the Shoal since independence in 1946. To reinforce this claim it points out that it built a lighthouse on the Shoal in 1965 and that it has conducted surveys and research in the waters surrounding the Shoal.

China asserts that Scarborough Shoal and its adjacent waters have been Chinese territory for generations and that it discovered the Shoal, incorporated it into its territory and exercised jurisdiction over it. Further, China also claims that the Shoal is included in the Zhongsha Islands, one of the four archipelagoes inside China’s infamous nine-dashed line map to which it has historic claims to sovereignty. China also argues that the Philippines never disputed Chinese jurisdiction until 1979.

To keep myself in the loop, I've decided to search all over the Internet and compile all the information I deemed pertinent to keep me abreast of all the facts and issues so that when I seat down and listen to the trial proceedings, I won't be caught uninformed.

Here are some of the many information available online, with some editing and added opinions of my own, and arranged in a way I find more streamlined and conducive to easier understanding - minus some of the hype.

I'll get back to all of these and insert clearer facts and "subtract" redundant or erroneous entries.

Of course, add my illustrations which I am very fond of. For the meantime, I am sorry to bore you with all the lengthy text.

The Corona Properties

The alleged Corona properties are located in the cities of Makati, Parañaque, Marikina and Taguig, according to a two-page letter from Land Registration Authority Administrator Eulalio Diaz III.

This year's Feast of Black Nazarene: Three million devotees on a 22-hour procession that started at around 7 am of January 9 and ended approximately 6 am of January 10.

Holy cow! This should be on the Guinness book of world records! What a long day it was especially for the devotees! The Arroyo transfer from St. Lukes Medical Center to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center detention was “light-speed” compared to this.

2012: End Of The World

Is the end of the world near?

One of the theories is based on a purported ancient Mayan prediction and fanned by the several marketing machines behind “end-of-the-world” movies, books, articles and documentaries,  the world will end on 2012 - December 21, 2012 to be exact.

But could humankind really meet its end in 2012—drowned in apocalyptic floods, walloped by a secret planet, seared by an angry sun, or thrown overboard by speeding continents?

At least one aspect of the 2012, end-of-the-world hype is, for some people, all too real: the fear.

Have A Fruitful New Year!

The Filipinos borrow many traditions from the Chinese, and the idea of driving away bad luck or bad spirits and ushering in good luck for the coming new year is the overall theme for Filipino New Year celebrations.

We have firecrackers as one example. They say that the noise and tremors will send the evil spirits speedily high-tailing out of the area.

Another tradition when it comes to bringing luck in the upcoming year is to have round fruits at the dining table. Our family has been consistent ever since to include round fruits every New Year. We never fail to complete the required number of fruits, even at least one of every kind, just to follow the long-time tradition.

December 30 is Jose Rizal Day commemorating the death of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, a Filipino polymath, physician, scientist. novelist,  a prolific poet, essayist, diarist, correspondent, a polyglot conversant in at least ten languages, and the national hero of our country, the Philippines.

In the hope of securing political and social reforms for his country and at the same time educate his countrymen, Jose Rizal, the greatest apostle of Filipino nationalism, published several works with highly nationalistic and revolutionary tendencies.

St. Pedro Calungsod

Saint Pedro

The Philippines will have its second saint in Blessed Pedro Calungsod.

Calungsod was a 17-year old Roman Catholic Filipino martyr who was killed while doing missionary work in Guam in 1672. He was beatified on March 5, 2000, by Pope John Paul II.

A skilled Sacristan and Catechist, he accompanied Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores to the Marianas Islands to catechize the natives of Marianas island.

Calungsod's religious persecution and Christian martyrdom is also called In Odium Fidei or In Hatred of the Faith.

Through their missionary efforts, many catechumens converted to the Roman Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Baptism.

Kim Jong Il, North Korea's longtime dictator, came into power in 1994  succeeding his father Kim Il Sung, and eventually taking the posts of chairman of the National Defense Commission, commander of the Korean People’s Army and head of the ruling Worker’s Party while his father remained as North Korea’s “eternal president.”

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), North Korea’s state news agency, issued several statements on Monday. A release titled “Kim Jong Il Passes Away (Urgent)”. A "special broadcast" from the North Korean capital, state media said the 69-year-old died of a heart ailment on a train due to a "great mental and physical strain" during a "high intensity field inspection." A separate article entitled “Medical Analysis of Kim Jong Il’s demise” added that Kim suffered an “advanced acute myocardial infarction, complicated with a serious heart shock.” It said an autopsy was done and "fully confirmed" the diagnosis.

Chief Justice Renato Corona has just been impeached by the House.....and OMG, how extremely fast it was! As fast as Jesus!...Judge Jesus Mupas of the Pasay RTC, that is.

Another victory for the new government. No, another victory for the Filipino people!

The Father of the Philippine Revolution

Andres Bonifacio is considered as the “Father of the Philippine Revolution”. He is the founder and “Supremo” (leader) of the independence movement against Spain, the Kataastaasan Kagalang-galang na Katipunan nang nga Anak ng Bayan(KKK), or simply known as the Katipunan. He is also a member of La Liga Filipina, just like Jose Rizal. La Liga is a movement to achieve reforms in the Philippines through peaceful means. When these efforts did not bear fruit, Bonifacio subsequently came to believe that independence could be achieved through an armed revolution, thus creating the Katipunan in 1892.

No State Honors for Marcos

There will be no state funeral or any kind of state honors for the toppled dictator Ferdinand Marcos under the Aquino administration, President Benigno Aquino III said.

Aquino said before the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines that the victims of martial law have yet to be accorded any apology or compensation.

“It will be the height of injustice to render any state honors to the direct mastermind of all their suffering,” the President said.

“I will not be sanctioning a burial for the late President Marcos,” he said.

Taal Lake is a freshwater lake in the province of Batangas, on the island of Luzon, Philippines. The lake is situated within a caldera formed by very large eruptions between 500,000 and 100,000 years ago. It is the country's third largest lake (the largest being Laguna de Bay). Volcano Island, the location of Taal Volcano's historical eruptions and responsible for the lake's sulfuric content, lies near the center of the lake. There is a crater lake on Volcano Island, which is in Lake Taal, which is located on Luzon Island. That crater lake is the world's largest lake on an island in a lake on an island, and it in turn contains its own small island, Vulcan Point.

Regular tours of the lake are available to tourists. After crossing the lake, visitors travel to the top of Volcano Island on horseback. During their trip up and down the mountain, visitors are treated to a stunning view of the lake and its surroundings.
