Brian "The Hawaiian Punch" Viloria wins by a technical knockout just twenty-nine seconds into the eighth round versus Giovani Segura of Mexico at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City. Viloria retains his WBO flyweight title in the bout dubbed as Island Assault 3.

While Amir Khan feels he was robbed in his loss vs Peterson, Viloria proves he can be a pound for pound best in his TKO victory.

Viloria in a convincing win. All heart and with superior skills and power, but his stamina remains a suspect.

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao,  who was there watching the fight, congratulated Viloria for an impressive fight, to which Viloria quickly retorted back that Pacman was his true idol and inspiration.

Meanwhile in Cebu, Filipino featherweight champion Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista defeated Mexican Miguel Angel Mendoza in style, stopping the challenger in the sixth round of the main event of Pinoy Pride X at the Hoops. Congratulations to Boom Boom!

I think all other Filipino undercards of both boxing events won. Mabuhay ang Pinoy! :)

On a related news, It was reported that immediately after his fight with Viloria, Segura was brought to the Medical City hospital to get treatment for injuries sustained from the fight including a lump on his head. Segura suffered a huge and almost grotesque lump in the right temple from Viloria’s relentless left hooks. The Initial findings of the doctors were: fracture in the orbital floor. He is now on IV & pain medications.

Sadly, it is not surprising that head injury is so common in boxing. It is estimated that when a boxer gets a direct blow to the head it is like being hit by a 12 pound padded, wooden mallet travelling at 20 miles per hour!

Being hit on the head can cause fractures to the bone of the head and face and tissue damage in the brain. A blow can damage the surface of the brain, tear nerve networks, cause lesions, bleeding and sometimes produce large clots within the brain.

Professional boxers suffer from the cumulative effect of damage to the brain, often resulting in punch drunk' syndrome.

Now you don’t really need the powers of the moon here to make a loony out of you. The American Association of Neurological Surgeons say that 90% of boxers sustain a brain injury. So we have to put a more watchful eye out for Pacquiao who is one of our country’s lawmakers, and be very cautious and worried if he does run for a higher office in the 2013 elections.
