GMA's Mugshots: Fake Or Real Or Fake?

"can anyone confirm if this is legit?"

"yup this is true.. (i think)"

"Obvious naman naka higa si madam dyan sa mga pictures na yan [baka hospital bed yan or during a procedure like MRI/CAT scan etc] at maayos pa ang appearance nya. FAKE!"

"Fake daw yan!"

Update:

The purported mugshots of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo that were published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer Monday are fake, Interior Secretary Jesse M. Robredo said Tuesday.

“The mugshots that appeared in the front page of the Inquirer today are not the actual mugshots,” he said.

The official called the Inquirer Tuesday morning to issue the clarification, reiterating the government line that it was up to the courts to release the authentic mugshots.

Robredo said he had seen the actual mugshots after he made a request to be given “my copy” and could positively tell that these were not the same as the photographs sent to the Inquirer newspaper and to the website mugshots.com.

Robredo declined to specify the details between the supposed fakes and the real mugshots.

But Robredo said he saw no point in releasing the actual photos despite public clamor.

“Public documents are released for a certain purpose. But (if the Arroyo mugshots are to be released) for what good? If it is only to satisfy public demand, that’s not a good enough reason,” he said.

Robredo said the release of the mugshots would depend solely on the Pasay court hearing Arroyo’s case and “this is not conditional on our part.”

"Robredo has a history na laging mali sinasabi at hindi muna nag che-check ng facts.. sabi niya last friday, hindi daw i-se-serve ang warrant of aarest kay Arroyo, kasi gabi na

Na-i-serve din naman

Nakahiga sa hospital bed actually makes it more authentic on IMHO"

"kapulisan na mismo at lawyers ni arroyo nagsabi na authentic ang mugshots na yan.."

Another Update:

The clerk of court of the Pasay Regional Trial Court Branch 112 has authenticated the mug shots of former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo that appeared on the front page of the INQUIRER and posted on inquirer.net.

In a radio interview, clerk of court Joel Pelicano said the photos he viewed via inquirer.net, the national newspaper’s online edition, were “almost the same” as the ones the police submitted to the sala of Branch 112 presiding Judge Jesus Mupas.

He said the only difference was the text below the INQUIRER photos, which contained the case reference number.

Television news reports also quoted Southern Police District officer in charge Senior Supt. Jaime Bucayu as saying the mugshots used in the Inquirer were authentic.

Bucayu however said the source of the leak was unknown.

"high tech na pala ngayon ang mugshot. diba before kailangan may hawak na maliit na sign with the name? ngayon photoshop nalang (maglalagay ng text sa ilalim)"

"^In a radio interview, clerk of court Joel Pelicano said the photos he viewed via inquirer.net, the national newspaper’s online edition, were “almost the same” as the ones the police submitted to the sala of Branch 112 presiding Judge Jesus Mupas on Monday morning.

"OT: afaik, lalo na sa USA, mugshots are public documents so talaga dapat available to the public. but syempre if meron kang mugshot, malaking dagok yan sa biodata mo. A prospective employer or girlfriend/boyfriend might google you and malaking turn off yan. so ginawang business. websites abuse the "its a public document" freedom to harvest all mugshots from the police and post them, properly tagged and with search engne optimization para kita sa google. Then they accept "payment" to get the mugshot deleted

IMHO extortion lang yan, lalo na if mali ang arrest like politically motivated or kamukha mo lang ang suspect"

"He said the only difference was the text below the INQUIRER photos, which contained the case reference number."
"yes, i just was mentioning na high tech na ngayon ang pulis kasi di na gumagamit ng maliit na sign with your name on it"

"nakakalito nga...sabi sa ibang online news...may humawak pa nga raw ng sign with the name of GMA...

And Another Update:

Palace agrees with Robredo, says Arroyo mug shots in Inquirer fake

MalacaƱang said the mug shots of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo published in the Inquirer were fake.

In a Palace briefing past noon Tuesday, Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said it was Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo who pointed out that the mug shots were fake.

Valte said that the Philippine National Police has given strict instructions for the police mug shots of Arroyo not to be released to the media and public.

"sobra daming contradicting statements even from supposed to be reliable sources. huwag tayo maniwala agad sa kanila......."
