Kris Aquino breaks her silence

Kris Aquino finally broke her silence regarding the Supreme Court's decision to have Hacienda Luisita distributed to the farm workers as per the long-standing plan of CARP, and sent a series of tweets in Twitter and told a tale worth telling.

It was about surviving no matter how much was lost, and would be lost now that the "mangagawang bukid" of the Cojuangco-owned hectares of land will finally get the land that was promised to them several years ago. It is unfortunate that some of these farm workers have died already without seeing their dream to finally till a land of their own come to a reality.

"Tomorrow Nov 27 will mark our Dad, Ninoy Aquino's 79th birthday. I believe PNoy inherited our Dad's courage in fighting for what is lawful & just."

"Since Luisita is very much in the news, may I share a beautiful story? When our Dad was imprisoned during Martial Law, our lolo Pepe Cojuangco visited him (lolo Pepe died in the mid 70s)."

"Our Dad was being offered a deal, everything taken away from our Mom's parents would be "given back" by the Marcos regime as long as my Dad signed papers admitting his guilt in the made up charges leveled against him."

"My Dad lost his own father at 15 & Lolo Pepe was really like his own father. My Dad told our lolo he'd sign the papers because he didn't want to see my grandparents suffer & lose so much."

"Lolo Pepe told Dad, Ninoy kaya namin. I'll take care of Cory & the kids. U fight for what is right because we believe in u."

"I hope that gives most of u a clearer picture of what my Mom's family is like. How they suffered & stood w/ my Dad & took care of us through the worst. To think, Ninoy Aquino was only their in law."

"We respect the Supreme Court, we survived even when they took everything from us, including our Dad's life- & we will survive even this."

With all due respect to Kris Aquino, I think with the numerous product endorsements (as can be seen by the so many billboards and ads), plus TV shows and guestings, plus the occasional tele-seryes and movies, she is nowhere in the level of hopelessness to warrant the need to cry out "We Will Survive". She won't go hungry or homeless, she wont go begging for food, or working under the heat of the sun and get soaked in the rain, and she won't be getting any splinters from planting and harvesting sugar cane. She will still have more than enough to live a life of luxury.

It would have been better if she tweeted these instead:

"The farm workers family was instead offered a deal, to keep silent and never complain  so that the land where their house stood would not be taken away by the Cojuancgo clan,  as long as the family signed papers accepting the SDO  no  made up charges would be leveled against them."

"The farm boy lost his father at 8 & his mother was too frail but still worked in the fields. The mother told his son he'd sign the papers because he didn't want to see his children suffer & lose so much."

"Nanay told her panganay, Anak kakayanin natin. I'll take care of you & your siblings. We cannot fight for what is right because we have no money to pursue a case."

I believe the farm workers deserve the long-awaited distribution of land. They have tilled the land for decades, they have settled for a small amount because of an unfair Stocks Distribution Option (SDO) which cheated them of just compensation for all their hard work, and some of them had died fighting for it. It is about time they rejoice.

I believe the Supreme Court may be getting back at Aquino for going after Arroyo but it was probably meant to be, all along there was a purpose for everything, for the SC to decide favorably to the farm workers, regardless of the reason.

So, now the farm workers will finally believe that there is still hope for those who persist.
