You're Invited To the House Blessing!

House Blessing Invitation

You are all invited to witness the house blessing of a Presidential suite located at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) compound in North Avenue, Quezon City.

The Pasay Regional Trial Court (RTC) ordered former President and incumbent Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to be transferred from the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig Global City to the VMMC within five days from receipt of the order to effect the transfer.

Pasay City Clerk of Court Joel Pelicano said the five days will give the parties concerned enough time to prepare for Mrs. Arroyo's transfer, and to allow them the opportunity to freely choose and order from their preferred party package and catering provisions provider. Event coordinators will be hired to supervise the production and execution of the many activities lined up during the event.

Father Robert “Running Priest” Reyes, a social and political activist priest, will officiate the house blessing ceremonies.
Members of the Senate and House of Representives are expected to attend and grace the event, along with the different heads of agencies of the Aquino government. Foreign and local celebrities were also invited to provide fun and entertainment. However, Piolo Pascual has declined the invitation due to undisclosed reasons. The National Press Club, the Alyansa ng Filipinong Mamahayag, the Burgos Media Center and the College Editors’ Guild of the Philippines, National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, and other groups have expressed their interests to join the occasion.

A very impressive list of foreign heads of state, press correspondents and other VIP guests were also among the invitees.

"Considering the accused is under the custody of the law and it is difficult to justify if the accused will remain in a private hospital, the court decided to transfer Arroyo to a government facility, particularly the VMMC." The process server has already started giving copies of the order to the concerned agencies, along with the house blessing invitations.

The presidential suite of VMMC is now undergoing renovation, and workers are expected to finish the work a few days before Arroyo’s transfer. The two engineers and  three interior designers are now coordinating personally with the Arroyo camp to acquire their style and color preferences for the Presidential suite.

Security is also expected to be tightened and procedures to be stricter since there will be a VIP staying there. The whole Philippine National Police, and Philippine Army will be there during the house blessing event to ensure protection for both Arroyo and her guests.

Arroyo may be allowed to bring her personal doctors and nurses to VMMC. It is also possible for Arroyo's doctors to coordinate with the resident doctors of VMMC to guarantee her the best medical care a government hospital can provide. As long as it is within the bounds of the law, the VMMC administrators sees no problem in the collaboration.

The VMMC formerly served as the venue for the detention of former President Joseph Estrada, shortly after he was ousted from office in 2001. Estrada was later allowed to be placed under house arrest at his rest house in Tanay, Rizal.

However, Arroyo is not expected to follow the footsteps of Estrada as many believe she has done worst than her predecessor.
